Darhon Rees-Rohrbacher was initially trained as a music educator, having received a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Music Education from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. In addition, she completed her Master of Arts degree in Vocal Pedagogy at the Ohio State University and a Doctor of Music degree in Voice Performance and Literature at Indiana University, Bloomington.
She taught classroom music in both public and parochial schools for several years where she organized and directed choruses, taught music theory, music history, music appreciation, and produced many school musicals and concerts. For many years, she has maintained a private studio in her home for piano, voice and harp students. She is also a Registered Nurse in NY State (MSN), former medical transcriptionist, and teaches nursing and healthcare in higher education in Albany, NY.
She is a very traditional, very
thorough educator who emphasizes musical literacy and holds high
musical standards for all of her students. Music theory, solfege and
good body alignment are hallmarks of her teaching style.
